In 2008 I bought a blue hatchback. My daughter immediately started referring to it as Daddy’s Blue Racecar. She’d tell people she met about my blue racecar. She’d see other people with cars she thought look liked racecars and tell them we have a racecar too – just blue. She really liked our racecar.
After a while I started thinking of it as my racecar. I’d make racecar noises when passing, and tire screeching noises when taking offramps (when driving alone, of course).
It’s fun to have a racecar. As soon as I started thinking about it in the simple joy-filled way of my daughter, it was a reality.
